2026 WSK 3YO Enrolment Application Form

As part of the Victorian State Government’s Reform, Wilson Street Kindergarten will receive funding for our 2026 3YO programs.

It is important for families to carefully consider the best time to enrol their child in a 3YO program.

A common question is ' My child turns three in February but we are not sure if we should submit their registration for three-year-old kinder yet?'

Your child must be at school in the year that they turn six years of age, this is the compulsory school starting age.

If your child is born between January and April, you have a choice as to when they start kindergarten. You can choose to start your child in the year they turn 3 or the year they turn 4.

Once a child starts three-year-old kindergarten, their education journey has commenced with an expectation of moving into four-year-old kindergarten the following year and then school the year after.

Although every child's development is unique, observation and research suggest that children who turn three between January and April can benefit significantly from waiting a year and starting 3-year-old kindergarten the year they turn four.

To help you make an informed decision about your child's readiness, talk to your Maternal and Child Health Nurse, do some research on-line, or attend the annual Kinder Readiness session hosted by Council during the formal registration period.

Wattle: 15 hour funded + 3.5 hour non-funded program
Lilly Pilly: 15 hour funded program

Eligibility and priority of access criteria for a funded 3YO Program

In instances where more eligible children apply for a place at WSK than there are places available, the kindergarten must prioritise children based on the DET criteria below and work with other local kindergarten services and the regional department office to ensure all eligible children have access to a kindergarten place.

Priority of access children:

Are at risk of abuse or neglect, including out of home care
Are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
Are, or have parents or carers who are, asylum seekers or refugees
Are eligible for the Kindergarten Fee Subsidy (hold a valid concession card or are a triplet or quadruplet)
Have additional developmental needs.

Children that fit one or more of those criteria will be allocated to a place in kindergarten as a high priority. This form will collect all the information required to determine if a child is eligible for Priority of Access.

If you believe you or your child are in exceptional circumstances which require prioritisation and are not covered by any of the above criteria, please contact Wilson Street Kindergarten to discuss.

Application Fee

A non-fundable administration fee of $40 must be submitted for the application to be processed. The enrolment application fee is to cover administrative costs. Please record the receipt number before submitting the form.
